September: Bittersweet

September marks the end of an extended summer holiday break. However, it isn’t all bad as there will be several events taking place that I am looking forward to.

Firstly, there will be the arrival of the new iPhones. Apple will decide to release a cheaper model with a splash of colour which will allow the device to be more unique and personal to people. In addition, iOS 7, which was first showcased at Apple’s WWDC will finally grace our iOS devices before the end of the month. OS X Mavericks I expect will be released for download in October.

There is also the long-awaited film entitled: Rush. Directed by Ron Howard tells the story of the  rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. As I am a big Formula One fanatic, this is definitely on my watch list!

On top of that, this year I managed to get tickets to go to the Eurogamer Expo which is an event held at Earl’s Court, in London. This year is even more special because it’ll be a chance for the public who perhaps did not manage to attend Gamescom, to get hands on with the PlayStation 4 and the XBox One. There will be a bunch of other games to play which are being released on the current generation of consoles such as, Beyond: Two Souls which is starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe.

Not too long after, it will be time to return to University to begin the second year and get prepared to start the hard grind of work again. I think this year in particular it will be much more of a challenge than the previous academic year because the course structure is changing. It is changing because the university lecturers believe that we should be armed with the skill set that we can expect to find in industry.

Apart from all of these amazing things to look forward to, like I mentioned earlier, it is the end of the summer holidays and so, for that reason I titled this blog post bittersweet.
